Can peptide businesses use SMS? An eligibility review checklist
The short answer
A peptide business cannot establish SMS eligibility from its category name or a ‘research use only’ label. Review the actual products, intended uses, storefront claims, destinations, and proposed messages with the provider. OneMoreSend’s policy limits peptide SMS to transactional use subject to review; it does not establish upstream acceptance for every account.
1. Describe the actual business, not a broad label
A research supplier, a consumer storefront, and a licensed healthcare business may have materially different products and activities. Start with the legal business identity, public storefront, product catalog, intended customers, and countries where recipients live. Do not leave the provider to infer what the business does from the word ‘peptides.’
List the exact products involved and their intended uses, together with relevant licensing or regulatory documentation. Include product pages, FAQs, bundles, and linked educational content. An eligibility review needs the complete context that a customer can see, not only a campaign screenshot stripped of its destination.
2. Understand what a research label cannot establish
‘Research use only’ is not a messaging exemption and does not settle a product’s legal status. In its March 31, 2026 warning letter to Prime Sciences, FDA stated that website evidence established intended human drug use despite labeling that described products as for laboratory research and not for human consumption. The letter addresses that business’s specific products and representations.
The practical lesson is to review the substance of the offering and claims. Do not treat a label as permission to market a product that is otherwise ineligible. Resolve questions about actual regulatory status with qualified advisers before asking a messaging provider to approve a program; provider review is not a substitute for that assessment.
3. Separate the proposed uses of text messaging
Prepare separate examples for customer-initiated support, necessary order information, checkout recovery, and promotional campaigns. Calling every message ‘transactional’ does not determine its purpose. A discount, recommendation to buy, or abandoned-cart sales reminder can be promotional even when an order reference appears nearby.
OneMoreSend’s acceptable-use policy lists peptide and research-compound SMS as transactional only, subject to approval. That is a limit on the platform’s offer, not a guarantee that every upstream provider or destination accepts the business. Ask for the exact supported scope in writing. If the route prohibits the underlying business, changing a promotional template into an order update does not solve that restriction.
4. Build a review packet that answers the hard questions
Send an organized packet before acquiring numbers or planning a launch date. A reviewer should be able to connect the business identity, website, customer permission, and proposed message without guessing. Record questions that remain unresolved so nobody treats a partial discussion as approval.
- Identity and catalog: business name, storefront, representative products, intended uses, and relevant documentation.
- Destinations and route: recipient countries, proposed sender type, expected traffic, and the provider policies being applied.
- Message purpose: complete samples for each proposed use, including all links and any automated follow-up.
- Permission: actual signup screens and disclosures, collection records, and the process for honoring withdrawals.
- Operations: the reply owner, escalation boundaries, permitted agent actions, and what happens when eligibility changes.
5. Keep support within its approved scope
Where the business and support use case are accepted, agents may need to answer ordinary commerce questions under an agreed policy. Define escalation for questions that ask for medical advice, dosing, or personal health assessment. Do not collect health information or medical histories through OneMoreSend; the platform’s acceptable-use policy excludes that data.
A customer starting a conversation does not create permission for ongoing promotions. Twilio’s Messaging Policy distinguishes a relevant reply exchange from recurring engagement and separately restricts prohibited content and use cases. Both the conversation purpose and underlying eligibility still matter. Confirm how opt-outs affect any future reply before agents improvise.
6. Record the decision and recheck changes
An actionable decision identifies the reviewed business, products, destinations, permitted message purposes, excluded activities, and any remaining setup requirements. Registration or verification, where required, is a separate step. Neither an account opening nor a successful test message proves continuing eligibility or guarantees delivery.
Revisit the decision when the catalog, claims, destinations, or intended traffic changes. If a use case is declined, ask whether the issue is missing documentation or an actual prohibition. Correct real errors through the review process; do not rename products, obscure links, or rotate numbers to hide the same activity. Start with OneMoreSend’s store review to establish what, if anything, can be supported.
Common questions
Does ‘research use only’ mean a peptide store qualifies for SMS?
No. The label does not override the actual product, intended use, website claims, law, or provider and carrier restrictions. Eligibility requires a review of the real business and proposed messages.
Can a peptide store use cart recovery as a transactional message?
Do not assume so. Review the actual purpose and content; a reminder intended to encourage a purchase can be promotional. OneMoreSend’s peptide SMS policy is transactional only, subject to review and upstream acceptance.
